My name is Susan Patch (hence Patchworks Photography)
I love the arts. Any kind of art. Painting, sculpture, glass works, and of course photography. I started out in college thinking that I could draw or paint for a living, but quickly realized that wasn’t going to happen. I picked up my dad’s Pentax K1000 camera and a class in photography, and found my niche in the arts.
That was a long time ago, and I have never considered doing anything else.
I have photographed weddings, Bar Mitzvahs, newborns and seniors, sports teams and nursery schools. I love it all.
I had a hard time with the advent of digital photography, as my computer skills were non-existent. Education is a wonderful thing, however, and now I embrace all of the great effects I can achieve with my camera and photoshop.
Today I have a wonderful studio in my home, or I travel to a local park or home for many of my sessions. As a parent myself, I know the importance of capturing as many of life’s special moments as we can. A newborn baby’s pudgy face, a 7 year old’s toothless grin, or a high school senior’s all-knowing look. My style of photography is easygoing and relaxed, with no time constraints on any session. My favorite portraits are the ones that shine with personality. The true dynamics between siblings, the bright curiosity in a toddlers eyes, or the love between a parent and a child. The word “cheese” is not in my vocabulary.
